2021 February Recap and March Outlook for Combat Sports:

The Combat Sports world has some huge matchups in February, with a huge upset in the boxing world. The UFC had a huge matchup with UFC 258 taking on all the headlines as the big matchup of the month, the battle consisted of Kamara Usman who was defending his welterweight title for a third time against Gilbert Burns who had six wins in a row before fighting Usman. “The Nigerian Nightmare” showcased his dominance proving why he is still champion with a third round knockout and having a 93 total strikes to Burns 55. This was the first big matchup since the UFC moved back to Vegas to have their fights, the UFC also had three other fight nights for the month of February. The first was Overeem vs Volkov Heavyweight bout, here the Underdog Volkov knocked out the favorite Overeem in the second round, the other Heavyweight bout was Blaydes vs Lewis with Lewis the favorite taking the Win with a second round knockout on Blaydes, the last fight of the month was the third heavyweight bout of the month Rozenstruik vs Gane with the underdog Gane taking the win by unanimous decision.

Moving away from the MMA world and into boxing, Top Rank boxing had a huge WBC junior lightweight title matchup. It consisted of an all-mexican battle between Miguel Berchelt taking on Oscar Valdez. Valdez, a huge underdog coming into this matchup shocked the world with a dominant fight over Berchelt ultimately leading to a 10th round knockout. Valdez has 149 total landed punches to Bercehlts 99, as well as power punches Valdez 103 to Berchelts 63. Valdez has now earned himself the WBC titles and did it in a dominant fashion proving his worth in the boxing world. Top Rank had another fight consisting of two lightweight contenders, the fight consisted of Richard Commey taking on Jackson Marinez, with Commey winning with an explosive six round knockout against Martinez, the two were both coming off of losses leading to a matchup with each other to win and have a close chance at having a shot at a title match.

Premier Boxing Champions started the month off with a Welterweight bout, the match consisted of Adrien Broner taking on Jovanie Santiago. Although Santiago landed more punches with 207 out of 697 to Broners 98 of 338. Broner ended winning the matchup by unanimous decision with many believing that Santiago deserved to take the win. The next matchup ended the month with a WBC Super Middleweight bout between former two time champion Anthony Dirrell taking on Kyrone Davis.
